Even if you’ve never been along to the youth group before, you’re more than welcome to join us for this awesome workshop session. Please share widely! ...
Brilliant sunshiney evening with the youth group making some signs for our planters (thanks for lending us a pen @civic_square !) and we hosted the awesome Polly from @creative_sustainability_cic virtually to catch up@with all the awesome events they have planned over the coming months, plus Anna from @barnwoodtrust joined us in person to find out what we’re all about too! There are already strawberries 🍓🍓🍓appearing in the community garden, and the lettuce could do with a haircut, so do take what you need folks of St Paul’s! @cheltenhamspra 🌱🌱🌱 ...

If you are in need of arts and crafts materials, these folks are doing sterling work diverting useful stuff out of waste streams and sorting it into usable, fun bits and bobs. We’ve picked up a whole load of materials for the Children’s Festival at the Town Hall on Saturday, 10-3. Come along and say hi and play with us! ...

This #earthday your social media and inboxes will likely be full of eco product launches getting you to buy more stuff, big companies posting pictures of trees, or scary stats and facts about the future. For something a bit different we thought we’d celebrate how far the Planet Cheltenham project has come and some of the joyous things that have happened along the way - our youth climate group going from strength to strength, all our school and community group talks, our energy events helping people save money and calling for more support, our Little Planet Cheltenham baby and toddler group and of course our brilliant doughnut economics learning journey team! There’s so much more to come, and so much joy to be found in community climate solutions, so please do join us, head to our website for more info! Everyday is #earthday when you’re giving people space to imagine a better future 🌍❤️🌟 (you can also play a fun game of spot the planet Earth cushion in these pics!) ...
We have one last energy session remaining, on Sunday 8th May, drop in anytime between 2 - 4pm to the workshop on Malthouse Lane, St Pauls to chat to three local homeowners about the brilliant ways they have future proofed their homes, lowering their bills and emissions. We have had around 50 residents attend the first two sessions, all worried about rising bills and climate impacts, the need is there for radical action to protect the most vulnerable from having to choose between heating and eating this winter. The government’s latest energy strategy goes now where near far enough and is very light on energy saving measures, the lowest hanging fruit when it comes to energy policy. It’s crucial that action is taken to keep people warmer and richer, stop funding dangerous fossil fuel based regimes abroad and protect our planet. Learn more about what you can do as a homeowner at this exciting event! ...
Just a few of the gorgeous prizes up for grabs in tomorrow’s raffle! From our wonderful friends @foodloosecheltenham @stpaulsvintage @tolmeia @mimmostudios @couper_et_coudre This is a raffle with a difference - to enter you will be invited to make a pledge at our clothes event @shccheltenham to slow down your fashion consumption by committing to buying less/buying better or even not buying at all! A pledge will be picked at random after the panel talk to receive all these wonderful eco and ethical goodies to take home. We will also have an optional donation box for cash for @chelt.refugees for anyone who would like to support the wonderful work they do locally to support those displaced by war or persecution. We are immensely proud of all the hard work our Climate Youth Group has put in to this event so please do come along to School House Cafe 12-4 Sat 19th 🌍❤️🪡👚👍 ...
We have an exciting announcement to make about our latest addition to the Planet Cheltenham family… ...
Are you worried about rising energy bills? We’re hosting a series of 4 events at our workshop building to help people reduce their bills and stay warm. The first two sessions are aimed at those renting their homes, and the last two sessions are aimed at homeowners who would like to retrofit their home to be more energy efficient, or maybe even look into renewable energy options. Our workshop is unheated and uninsulated (keep an eye out for our crowdfunder later this year!) so what better space to talk about the importance of keeping warm and well! Students and landlords of St Pauls - we’re especially keen to chat with you. The brilliant Severn Wye Energy Agency will be joining us, they can help with advice and support. We’ll also have three local homeowners with stalls showcasing what they’ve achieved with their own homes. So come along and let’s spread the word about staying warm and healthy, saving money and reducing our dependence on fossil fuels too 🌍❤️💷🤩 ...
It’s such a privilege to be hosting the Doughnut Economics learning journey group under the Planet Cheltenham banner. All the local people involved are working in their own fields to improve the environment and reduce social inequality, shine a light on systemic issues and plot a path towards solutions. The creativity and insight so far has been phenomenal! And we’re only two chapters in! For more info on doughnut economics give @doughnuteconomics a follow and keep an eye out for events this year which we’ll be bringing the doughnut along to! ...
Great to see such a brilliant turn out at the Regeneration Repair cafe run by @vision21.gloucestershire at St Andrew’s Church in Montpellier. Loads of stuff will have been saved from landfill today, repaired instead of thrown away. Electronics, fabrics, garden tools, knives and scissors re-sharpened, and much more including some of the fab team from @foodloosecheltenham showing their great products and plastic free shopping. Could repair and reuse become the norm in Cheltenham? ...
